Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Police reported they were alerted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Officials say preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in association with the event," they added.

City officials said they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.

A high-ranking official commented the incident rendered him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
